Greetings & Job History Frustration

First Let me say I probably should have joined
"Blogging Nation" a long time ago.

I have been told that I can write and
I certainly needed an outlet for some of my Musings :)

Let me begin right away by addressing the final straw
that led me to finally "Blog"

I am thoroughly frustrated with my present employment situation
and this is the best way I can think of to vent

So here goes...

I have a job, Really I do. And this job actually pays better
than ANY job I have ever had.
The problem with this job is that is only "on call" for disasters and special projects

Now I don't wish Disasters on anybody or anywhere but someone has to respond to them and I seem to be pretty good at it.

But alas I have this really great job that pays really well
but like the Maytag Repairman I am not getting called.

Well, I did get called this Summer for 6 weeks
and the job came at the right time
and I went to a fun place and met some great people.

BUT the 6 weeks I worked played Havoc with my disability benefits.
So while having the money was great
I kind of ran into some problems sorting the disability benefits situation out.

As my benefits representative said
"We just are not set up to stop and start your benefits"

So that leave me with a couple of choices.

I can find a part time job which will supplement my benefits
or I can find a full time job which will supplant my benefits and put me back to work.

Both situations do not leave the opportunity
for me to keep working at my on call Disaster Assistance job.

So I have decided the only responsible thing to do
is to find a regular job.

I began by posting my resume.
Which in any job market is a roll of the Dice
but let me tell you what my Achilles Heel is

Out of High School I have a "Resume Gap"
Those of you who already know me, know what that is;
for the others "Sorry that's Classified"

Then I worked for the phone company for a few years
before going back to school to get a Masters Degree
(that plus $2.50 will buy me a Large Coffee at DD)

I got my "dream job" the reason I got my M.A. in the first place : )
I was an Analyst for the Govt !!!!
BUT it actually turns out to be a Extremely BAD job fit
so after 18 months back home I go

I found work...

Police dispatcher for 4 years
(Left to get off of the midnight shift & actually get to know my family)
Technical Support Rep for 18 months
and from there a Great job with great pay
working at a private school with computers

But Wait...

My 24 year old hip replacements decide to fail me
and so with that, and the long commute, and some other "issues",
its mutually decided I wont return to that job after Surgery

After my surgery I am hired by someone I know to help run their factory
I don't know if I was a disappointment to them
but I learned a lot and got great experience
and with my assistance they increased production

Then my family and I moved to Florida
I worked for my church for a while
then had the chance to work the 2004 Presidential Campaign
(I could not pass that up)
but of course after election day that was over too

In the Fall of 2005 I went to work responding to Hurricane Katrina
and I expected that I would keep working for the same Govt agency.

But they kept losing my paperwork until Summer of 07

OK that's quite enough of the litany of jobs
and I hope I haven't lost everyone reading this

But as you can see trying to explain this history on a Resume
is a rather difficult task

and I sit here tonight Employed but Unemployed
wanting to work but having as much luck a I do Fishing :)

Thanx for reading
& I plan on posting more relevant things in the days to come
