I substitute teach
(I think I would rather do a tour in Iraq)
Every day, every class is proving to the students who the "Alpha Wolf" is
I tell them I am not so old that I have forgotten
what having a "Sub" is like:
generally they will try to get away with anything they can
But I tell them, since I am there not to teach
but to watch them for about an hour
my job is just like the game "Whack-a-Mole
If anyone does anything out of the ordinary I am going to see it
and since I really can't miss it
they are just drawing attention to themselves
So I tell them just don't do anything to make me notice them
and class should go well
I also tell them that I consider the class a team
and if one student messes up, they all pay the consequences
A little Psychological Warfare
where they keep each other in line
has worked pretty well so far
