I moved away from New England over 6 years ago to get away from Ice & Snow
Florida was the perfect state for me to reside in
because I swore I would never again live in a place
where the signs on overpasses proclaim
"Bridge Freezes Before Roadway"
Much like Jonah refusing to go to Nineveh;
I vowed to stay away from winter weather with every ounce of my resolve.
Almost five years ago, I had an opportunity to work with FEMA after Katrina
and the job, though intermittent, is the best work I have found
I really hate being away from my family for months at a time,
but it pays very well and I am seeing new places and learning new things
BUT, when I joined FEMA I never figured that I would be sent back into
"the Frozen Elements"
Well, last year while I was in Beaumont TX they had a record snowfall
There I was cleaning off my rental car with no gloves
(they had been borrowed & temporarily lost)
Now this year the forecast in Little Rock AR
is for 1/4 - 1/2 inch of Freezing Rain followed by several inches of Snow
At least I havent had to deal with any very large fish...
Yet!
Oh and the very ugly green small SUV rental
my co-workers have been making fun of,
It looks like I probably made a good choice after all
