my
old home network had two Apple “Airports”
one
in the office wired to the cable modem as a base station
and
one in the living room that extended the network
the
Network has been slow in the living room
so
I bought a new style Airport to add to the network
my
plan was
new airport in office attached to cable modem as the base station
both
old style airports in living room to better extend the home network
That
was the plan anyway
So
I got the new airport and after a bit of work
got it working as the base station
Now to set up the two older airports
to
act as network extenders
they
would work correctly in the office
but
as soon as i moved them away they didn't work
so
I tried resetting one
Well
the reset button broke
INSIDE
the sealed unit
that
one is trash
until
i can find a way to get it to Stop Constantly Resetting
then spent several hours trying to get the other one to work
and researching everything to death
Its
still wouldn't work at ANY appreciable Distance away from the Base
Station
OK
NOW for the FIX
I
read where extending a network with other devices
actually
slows the network down
with
the Newer Airport device I actually get Better coverage AND Speed
throughout
the whole house
JUST
with the Base station in the office alone
So
since I didn't need better coverage anymore
and
I don't want to slow down the network with devices i don't need
the
“FIX” is throwing the old units into a drawer
and
just using the new airport alone
